Sometimes it is necessary to access one or more individual particles, after a simulation has been done, to apply some changes to it or delete it. thinkingParticles offers several methods to handle this task including the PSelection Operator.
To use this operator, a user will either select manually any particle in the scene or use a procedural way to select specific particles that need some modification after the simulation has been done. All particles added or appearing in this list will behave exactly the same like any other particle group or PPass operator.
ON - (Bool) This input data stream determines whether the operator is considered 'on' or 'off.' You can connect other operators to this input channel such as a Bool Helper to activate/deactivate the whole operator.
Time - (Time) This input data stream is used to define the local time for the operator when the user wants to override the default system time.
ID - (Integer) sets the particle ID to be added to the list
Mode - (Integer) lets you either choose from Normal (0) or Collect (1) mode.
Particle - (Particle) This output data stream sends the selected particles out to another node.
Mode - lets you choose between Normal and Collect mode. When set to Collect, any 'satellite' PSelCollect node in any Dynamic Set will add particles to this operator. To add particles the simulation must be running and after a full playback the mode is reset to Normal. This will prevent collecting the same particles over and over again. DEL - To remove a particle ID from the list, highlight the number in the list, then press this button. Right Click onto this Delete Button to get a DELETE All option.
Pick - click this button to enter a standard 3ds Max pick mode. Move the mouse cursor over any particle you wish to add and click on it. This particle ID will be added automatically to the list.
ADD - Click this button to add a particle ID to the list of particles that should trigger the PSelection initiator. You may type in any ID or use the spinner to change the number that is added to the list.
Particle ID - Use this spinner to type in any particle ID number that should be used to trigger the PSelection initiator.
