thinkingParticles Release 7.0

A whole new world of physically accurate material properties

Cebas Visual Technology Inc. is excited to announce its major new development milestone in creating advanced 100% procedural visual effects tools for 3ds Max.
With a plethora of new simulation tools and enhancements, this latest release of thinkingParticles is worthy of a major release announcement: Say hello to thinkingParticles Version 7.0!

As with all things in life, it's not only about the good looks, -no- it's more about the inner values that actually matter. thinkingParticles Version 7 is no different, it got a complete engine flush, washing out all the "dirt and grime" of the old times. Version 7 offers a brand new, state of the art memory management architecture specifically optimized for modern multi-core systems. You could say, thinkingParticles 7 comes with the future already integrated and ready to thrive when future technology will show up at your doorstep.

MPM-Snow Sim

thinkingParticles Release 7.0 brings to you many bug fixes, workflow enhancements and new features, features like a brand new state of the art MPM Solver. MPM is short for Material Point Method, it is a grid based system that accelerates the physically accurate simulation of real world material properties. Materials one could simulate with MPM can range from hydro fluids, rubber to rock solid metals.

Find below, a list of prominent new features in Version 7.0.

Flow MPM

thinkingParticles' Flow operator now integrates, in addition to SPH, a full grid based Material Point Method (short MPM). MPM represents a new 100% procedural approach in simulating continuum body dynamics right from within thinkingParticles. Specifically, MPM allows you to simulate highly deformable objects with great stability and a low amount of simulation artifacts.
Multiple new operator nodes offer a 100% procedural control of any Material Point Method effects in thinkingParticles. In its first release, the following material properties are supported by MPM, with more to follow.

  • Sand
  • Snow

Cellular

A powerful new node to procedurally generate volumetric 3D patterns and group them in individual cells. Besides the well known procedural patterns Circular and Chip, a third pattern; Voronoi has been added. This new Voronoi function allows you to procedurally create your own 3D patterns and still have full control over it.

Sprites

A new DX hardware accelerated particle viewport display method has been added to thinkingParticles. This viewport display option in thinkingParticles  enhances the viewport feedback and offers a faster and better density perception of large particle simulations.

Core Enhancements

thinkingParticles 7.0 comes with the latest in memory management and multi-threading support technology in its core. Early Beta-Tester feedback indicates an overall speed improvement throughout every single aspect of thinkingParticles. For example, complex fragment simulation and SC rigid body effects can show up to 5 times speedup, in some extreme cases even 10x.

We are also pleased to reaffirm that finalRender continues to be an important part of thinkingParticles. We are adding a full commercial license of finalRender - a value of US$ 294 - for FREE!
